About the house

Hotel Rural “Casa La Sonrisa” is located in Hedeso, in the Valle de Tobalina. It is a tiny village, an aldea in Spanish, in the north of Burgos province . This old farmhouse was built over 200 years ago in the architectural style of this region. As usual, the ground floor consisted entirely of stables. The first floor was for living and living and the kitchen. On the second floor were again small stables, where piglets were kept for slaughter. Sausages and hams were also smoked here. On the side of the house, the pretty windows show that pigeons were also welcome here, for consumption that is.

Casa La Sonrisa is a centuries-old farmhouse. You will especially taste this atmosphere in the comedor (dining room) and the cosy lounge with wood-burning stove. The rooms upstairs are modern and fully equipped. Clean and sleek, with their own modern bathroom, television and wifi. Here, design is appropriately combined with old elements that were present in the farmhouse. Apart from the atmosphere in the casa, you can enjoy the pool, terrace and views outside. And of course the quiet village with its old houses, some dilapidated, others renovated and inhabited, and its fig and nut trees.

The house is located on the outskirts of the village. Its location is perfect amidst nature: from the house you have beautiful views over the valley.
In the evenings, with a bit of luck, you can see deer or wild boar walking through the valley from the terrace. Vultures regularly circle above the house. Casa La Sonrisa is a paradise for those who want to combine action with peace and quiet and culture with natural beauty: a great base for MTB’ing, touring by road bike, motorbike rides or spectacular walks. Five kilometres from Hedeso is the village of Pedrosa de Tobalina with a few bars and restaurants and a fantastic swimming spot at a waterfall in the river. After returning, you can relax by the pool in Casa La Sonrisa with a book and a good glass of wine.
